We had a great trip.
We had a great trip. Semir was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, kind and helpful. As the slowest member of the group he never made me feel awkward or that it was difficult to accommodate the varying walking speeds. As unfortunately we were not able to walk the last two days I was impressed how he managed to find something interesting for us to do and rebook the accommodation. The mountains and views are stunning and the accommodation was welcoming and warm with good food.
Well planned tour.
Amazing architecture in the cities. Going into mountainous rural areas to see the simple rural way of life and enjoy walks was a lovely welcome change from city sightseeing. We had knowledgeable professional guides throughout . Well planned tour. It is a full on tour and you need stamina as there is little time for rest.
A fascinating insight into the culture and history of Uzbekistan.
The holiday was a fascinating insight into the culture and history of Uzbekistan. The itinerary was well thought out and presented by experienced and knowledgeable guides. The additional days we spent in the Fergana Valley and visiting Shakribasz were excellent.
A brilliant trip, in a fascinating country.
A brilliant trip, in a fascinating country. The trek was tough in places but the amazing scenery more than made up for the effort, and that's before you take into account the breathtaking helicopter ride!
There was so much to see and discover.
What I appreciated about the tour is how we were able to see so much of the island and meet the people. There was so much to see and discover - full on but fun. Our guide Rangana was exceptional, his knowledge was outstanding and he was so patient at all times!
An amazing and magical introduction to the Silk Road!
A fantastic tour led by our fabulous guide Shakhnoza whose knowledge and enthusiasm was infectious, whose warmth and sense of humour made the tour a treat, whose professionalism was impeccable, and whose helpfulness was boundless. The whole tour was well planned and paced to cover the key cities and amazing sites with the free days welcome for older travellers to rest and relax and for others to further explore and shop. We echo all the other reviews here from 2025 - worth reading. An amazing and magical introduction to the Silk Road!
Great memories created.
A brilliant experience travelling through the iconic sites of the Silk Road; full on pace but equally fantastic care and insights provided by our guide Shakhnoza every step of the way! Great memories created.
A truly wonderful holiday/adventure.
A well planned out holiday in various regions culminating in the highlight of Pafuri. Each day there is new wildlife and vistas to see, as well as new experiences to gain. The guide throughout the trip was superb. A truly wonderful holiday/adventure.
A truly amazing holiday.
Absolutely awesome! Initially disappointed that the holiday wasn't running, I decided to 'go solo'. I was pleasantly surprised by the price! Trekked through beautiful steppe scenery, amidst lakes and mountains with carpets of Alpine flowers. The hospitable nomads fuelling us with salt tea, mutton and mare's milk vodka amongst other local delicacies. In the evening I sat outside watching herds of literally thousands of sheep, goats, horses, yaks and camels being brought back to the gers. A truly amazing holiday.
A private itinerary with so much variety.
So much variety. The guide (Nishan) was fantastic, and the properties we stayed in were amazing. It was fascinating to have so many experiences as well as being wonderfully looked after throughout. (This was a tailor made version of our standard group trip).
An impressive trek up the South Inylchek glacier
An impressive trek up the South Inylchek glacier to the base camp for Khan Tengri and Pobeda peaks. There were few other people on the route (until base camp) and it felt genuinely remote. The fixed camps offered comfortable overnight accommodation and good food in dramatic locations with fine views. The helicopter flights in and out were very dramatic with great views of the mountains and glacier! Plus interesting visits to cultural and other sites on the road journeys to and from Karakara base camp.
I thoroughly enjoyed the hikes on this trip.
I thoroughly enjoyed the hikes on this trip (at times modified by our guide to take into account weather, local conditions or simply to use more interesting routes). Landscapes were beautiful and accommodation and transport were good. Included meals which were prepared by our guide were excellent.
Wonderful trip.
Wonderful trip. A beautiful and wild region. Very few foreign tourists and rich Tibetan Buddhist culture. High altitude caused minor problems for me so take time to acclimatise!
A very varied and interesting visit to Uzbekistan.
A very varied and interesting visit to Uzbekistan, led by a superb local guide Shakhnoza, we explored sites both ancient and modern, mosques, minarets, mausoleums, museums, we stayed in well located hotels, we had a couple of long but interesting road journeys, an internal flight and a train journey, free days in Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand gave an opportunity to revisit sites or visit new ones and / or to rest, relax, shop etc. Local people all very friendly and helpful. I would echo the reviews of this trip over the last couple of years. Recommended.
An excellent trip.
The Svaneti area is absolutely stunning and the walk was excellent. The days hiking were well planned, being long and difficult enough to make one feel that one had a proper walk, but not so difficult as to be painful. Some of accommodation was rustic and a basic, but this is a deeply rural area in places. The breakfasts and dinners served on trek were excellent, good honest home cooking. As vegetarians we were well-cared for. There was plentiful hot water throughout. Tbilisi is also a charming city. The city hotel was very nice. The puppet theatre is recommended! The guide was easy-going and knowledgeable about both wine and walking. An excellent trip.
I don’t know why Georgia isn’t on everyone’s radar.
I don’t know why Georgia isn’t on everyone’s radar. Beautiful mountains, fabulous flowers, lovely food and interesting architecture. A treat.
A really memorable holiday.
Alp, the guide, was superb - efficient, friendly, and a real polymath - we learnt so much about history, geography, linguistics and ethnography from him - a real treat. The city hotel was central with easy access to the old town, harbour, and good restaurants. The trek hotels were really well chosen - small and friendly, with character and good food. The opportunities to view ancient sites, the boat trip, and the fiery mountain were great additions to the walking experience. A really memorable holiday.
Excellent walking holiday
Excellent walking holiday, we learned so much about the ancient history and natural environment. Arriving at sites from the wild countryside provided a unique perspective, much enhanced by the knowledgeable and caring guide. And the sea was lovely too, both the views and for a delicious dip at the end of the day.
Brilliant guide
Our brilliant guide, Lilit, made this holiday really special for me. The itinerary was well organised and flexible enough to fit in changes.
Great introduction to Uzbekistan
A great introduction to the culture and history of Uzbekistan and its people. We especially enjoyed the Registan, which was truly magnificent, and the chance to see each of the cities lit up at night. Our guide was fabulous, so knowledgeable but also great fun. That said, the days we had to explore on our own helped to balance the pace and give us time to revisit our favourite places at leisure.
