A proper adventure!
What an incredible trip! Even though bad weather meant we couldn’t make it over Larkya La, it was still such an amazing experience from start to finish. The scenery was unreal, and the Tibetan culture along the way was a real highlight, visiting monasteries, spinning prayer wheels, and hearing the chants drift through the valleys was just pure magic. One of my favourite moments was watching the sunrise over Manaslu from Shyala. Absolutely breathtaking and something I’ll never forget. It was tough in parts but so rewarding, and Mountain Kingdoms had everything running smoothly the whole way. Would 100% recommend this trip to anyone who loves big mountains and proper adventure. Our assistant guides - Bahadur and Pharsa Man were amazing. They were calm and organised, especially when the weather turned, always looking out for everyone. Our porters were incredible too. Very cheerful and kept everything running smoothly no matter the conditions.
A fantastic insight into Bhutan!
A fantastic insight into Bhutan - a glorious country, people and culture. Both our tour guide, Tshering, and our driver, Tenzin, were excellent. Tshering's knowledge, kindness and humour were unsurpassed. He gently kept us on track and went out of his way to maximise our enjoyment of the trip. Tenzin was an excellent driver, including in some challenging road and weather conditions. He also helped our trip run smoothly and was friendly, kind, and patient.
A brilliant interesting, adventure holiday.
A brilliant interesting, adventure holiday - with the bonus of comfortable accommodation in good locations. A perfect mix of sightseeing and culture, and two completely different treks. The colours of the architecture took my breath away. I'd looked at photos in travel brochures and magazines for so many years, but seeing the historical monuments for myself, far surpassed my expectations. Importantly, the local agent arranged gluten free meals for me for the whole tour, which I really appreciated.
Thank you Mountain Kingdoms!
This was a fascinating and stimulating tour of Uzbekistan’s historical sights and culture. We particularly enjoyed wandering through the maze of streets in Khiva and our first sight of the awesome Registan Square in Samarkand. These amazing public sights were balanced by visits to domestic style carpet makers, silk producers, pottery workshops and wood carvers. Our guide was exceptional, catering to our every need with a smile and a lovely sense of humour. It was an unforgettable trip that we have already recommended to our friends. Thank you Mountain Kingdom!
A fabulous trip!
We've wanted to make this trip for a number of years and thankfully we finally had the opportunity. A fabulous trip to an awesome country populated with happy, interesting and interested people. The culture, food and geography of the country were fascinating. At the moment our western culture has not had a big impact but that will change in the coming years. This is a country that should be visited before it changes.
The trip was a great introduction to the country!
The trip was a great introduction to the country, the guide was extremely knowledgeable, and the group of fellow travellers were very good company. Finally, the weather and the places visited were amazing.
Tailor made departure with Jim Corbett National Park extension.
A first class travel experience from the awe inspiring Golden Temple in Amritsar to the beauty and cultural magic of the Lesser Himalaya, culminating in the magnificent birdlife and majestic tigers of the Jim Corbett National Park. An experience that will live long in our memories!
An amazing experience!
The Annapurna sanctuary trek is an amazing experience. It’s a journey into the heart of the Annapurna’s. Altitude and ascends are rewarded by stunning scenery along the way never to be forgotten. It was an amazing adventure with stunning scenery along the way that resonates with you for a long time. Our guide, Durga and his team made it possible for us to fully enjoy the trek every minute. We are very grateful to him and his team to guide us brilliantly and also for his group spirit.
Our guide was wonderful!
I have long wanted to go to Central Asia and see in particular Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand. Tashkent was also on our itinerary and that also proved fascinating, even if a modern city. I loved the architectural sights, and also the visits to arts and crafts centres, including dinner at the home of a leading Uzbek artist, lunch at the pottery and embroidery centre cooked by the members of the family, plus the visit to the silk paper-making centre, and the silk and wool carpet weaving centre. The Bukhara Biennale was a real stroke of luck and so interesting. Shakhnoza was the most wonderful guide for our time in Uzbekistan. Her knowledge was superb, her manner caring at all times of her clients, and she had a great sense of humour too. Our driver for most of the trip - Barack- was also excellent and always helpful.
The tour was well paced.
The tour was well paced with plenty of time in each location. The guide and driver were excellent and we learnt a lot from them. The group size was about right for the holiday and navigating the busier sites. Our guide was a great companion and helped our understanding and knowledge of this fascinating country. The support provided by the local agent and guide when we were ill was superb, timely and much appreciated.
Varied itinerary and very knowledgeable guide
A small group, varied itinerary and very knowledgeable guide. Wonderful sites in an interesting country. Free days to relax were wonderful and gave us chance to meander around.
Mountain Kingdoms organisation was first class!
From start to finish Mountain Kingdoms organisation was first class. The trek staff, Sherpa Tendu and our two porters went above and beyond to help and look after us, truly lovely people. The route was well planned with 6 acclimatisation days prior to the first high pass crossing ensuring we avoided altitude sickness. I am in my late sixties and my trekking companions were in their early 50's and we were all able to cope with the rigours of the trip. One does have to be realistic, at times it can be cold and hot water for showers is not always available. Go for it !
A real luxury trek!
A real luxury trek with great accommodation for a trek. Stunning scenery, quieter than the Inca trail. Excellent guides in Javier and Pepe.
Wonderful scenery!
Wonderful scenery. Fabulous Bhutanese guide who had a great sense of humour and really made the trip fun particularly for those facing what was for them a significant physical challenge. Well organised and went very smoothly.
Bhutan is truly amazing
Bhutan is truly amazing: spectacular scenery, charming people and such a rich cultural heritage. The guide and our 2 drivers were all 10/10, and went the extra mile to look after us, particularly on a day of epic rainfall with many road closures, and challenging driving conditions. Our guide was an absolute star, very kind, intuitive and attentive to the needs of our group, and provided great insight and information to all the places we visited.
Excellent trekking!
Excellent trekking way off the beaten track, with fabulous views of the Kangchengjunga range at every turn, And with a good dose of heritage hotels.
A full-on, interesting experience
As previous clients have mentioned, this is a full-on trip but what an interesting experience! The nice thing about this holiday was the alternating of Silk Road sight-seeing and trekking which provided variety for us. The hotels were of a good standard, particularly the hotel in Tashkent. We had two exceptionally good cultural guides during the trip who were able to adjust things as appropriate for the group. Food is plentiful (if somewhat oily) and we were taken to a wide variety of delightful restaurants. The minibuses used were generally comfortable and appropriate for the trip. Highly recommend the extension to Fergana, we did two nights to make it less exhausting and caught an early morning train back to Tashkent.
Excellent holiday!
Excellent, experienced and committed guide. We had a excellent comfortable mini bus, character hotels and a great itinerary.
A Scenic Trek Through History and Culture.
The trek crossed some beautiful and interesting countryside and mountain passes, staying in comfortable accommodation with excellent local food. Passing through three different countries in one week we learned a lot about an area with a rich, but often troubled history. All the walks were within the abilities of our group, especially with some stretches of road or track being covered by minibuses (which were interesting rides in themselves!). The final two days of the trek were curtailed because of unseasonable heavy snow, but our guide (Semir) organised alternative accommodation in Kosovo and visits to two beautiful monasteries and to Prizren.
This holiday was excellent.
This holiday was excellent. Very well organised in every detail. The hotels were all very good and the guide and driver were always there to assist....some of the best in the business. The scenery was majestic, and even though some of the walks were challenging, there was always an easier option for those who didn't wish to participate in full. A wonderful holiday. with just the right size of group , who were great company.
