Holiday styles

We offer seven distinctive types of holiday that cater to all ages and abilities: tours, walking and trekking holidays, trekking peaks, walking safaris, cycling tours, adventure cruising and polar cruising. Our walking and trekking holidays vary from gentle strolls around the sights to challenging mountain treks. Please refer to our grading system to help you choose the right adventure holiday for you.

What the Price Includes

At Mountain Kingdoms we believe in transparent, inclusive pricing that offers the best value for money. We do not add extras for meal packages or 'local charges' and try to ensure that all the key elements of your holiday are included so you won't get any nasty shocks.

You can see exactly what you are getting for your money in the 'What's Included' box on each holiday page. It is also explained in our Day-by-day Itineraries.

In general our 'Land Only' prices include:

• A Mountain Kingdoms Local or Appointed Leader
• All internal flights
• Group airport transfers - please see 'Airport transfers' overview below.
• All other road transfers, by private vehicle, as per the itinerary
• Good standard hotel accommodation (usually 3/4 star) in main cities, on a bed and breakfast basis
• Sightseeing where specified (including entrance fees)
• All applicable national park and permit fees
• Full service on camping treks, including all facilities and support staff
• Full board on all tea house, camping and lodge-to-lodge treks
• On all but a couple of our holidays your luggage will be transported for you, leaving you to carry just a day sack.

Additionally our 'Flight Inclusive from' price includes

• The best available economy class return air fare from the UK, and UK Departure Tax - please read, 'Flight inclusive from' price below for further details.
• Offset carbon emissions through our trusted partner, Ecoan, who are based in Peru

Our prices do not include travel insurance, visa fees (except for holidays to Bhutan), lunch and evening meals in major cities (or as per itinerary), overseas airport departure taxes and tips.

‘Land only’ price

You can join any of our trips in the destination country, by making a Land Only booking. You can find the city in which the trip begins and ends on each holiday page here on the website, and also in our holiday itineraries. All of our Land Only prices include internal flights as required by the itinerary. Before booking your own international flights please check with us first to see whether your trip is up and running. Please note that if you are booking your own flights airport transfers will be an additional cost.

'Flight inclusive from' price

Our primary aim is to secure you the best available flight for your chosen holiday. When making your booking we will quote you the best Flight Inclusive Price available. You then have the choice of accepting our price, or booking your own flight elsewhere. If you take our Land Only option you are still financially covered under our ABTOT bond.

Our Flight Inclusive Price ‘from’ is an indicative price only and is based on the best fare available at the time of printing/publishing online. As airfares change on a constant basis, this should be used only as a guide price. Rest assured that, at the time of booking, we will endeavour to get the best possible price for the flights you need. Remember, the earlier you book the greater your chances of securing the best fare.

Flight inclusive packages booked through Mountain Kingdoms are protected through our ATOL bonding scheme.

Loyalty Discounts

As a past client you are eligible for a cash discount of £75 per person on our group holidays, Private Departures, or Tailor Made holidays. This discount offer excludes any holidays booked in Europe, Morocco and the Middle East.

Flight upgrades and regional airports

Airport transfers

The cost of a group transfer to/from the airport is included in the price of your holiday. This is a single group transfer which is arranged to coincide with the timings of the group flights. If you book your own flights which arrive/depart at different times to this, or we book flights at your request that have different timings, we will be happy to provide a quote for a separate transfer.

Price changes & surcharges

‘Live’ Land Only prices are shown here on our website for each small group holiday departure, and we endeavour to keep these updated at all times. You will be advised of the actual Flight Inclusive price (see above), or Land Only price, for your holiday at the time you make your booking. There will be no surcharges after your booking has been confirmed.

Accommodation

Great accommodation is an essential component of a fantastic holiday and at Mountain Kingdoms our priority is to use quality, characterful accommodation whenever possible. Accommodation varies greatly by destination and type of holiday including jungle lodges, overnight trains, village houses, mountain huts and remote camping. Most commonly though we use the following types of accommodation:

Hotels and lodges In main cities we use good quality hotels chosen for their comfort and ambiance; these will be booked on a bed and breakfast basis. It should be noted that the quality of individual properties varies according to destination and remoteness but we always endeavour to use the best available when in small outlying towns.

Tea houses On the most popular trekking routes in Nepal, villagers have built tea house lodges with plenty of character, relative comfort and good food. On our tea house treks you will generally stay in twin-bedded rooms with all meals and extra snacks included. We also include sleeping bags, hot water bottles and 'bed tea'. By staying in tea houses you will have close contact with the Nepalese people contribute directly to the local economy.

Luxury Lodges In the Annapurna and Everest regions of Nepal, and also in Peru, we offer treks using luxury lodges for those who like to trek in style and comfort. All the lodges have en suite facilities with hot and cold running water, delicious cuisine and touches of extra style such as happy hours, electric blankets and hot tubs with a view!

Extensions and upgrades

You can extend virtually all our group departures with: extra hotel nights at the start and end of the holiday, sightseeing tours, 'warm up treks' or different activities. There is often the possibility to upgrade our city hotels as well. Full details can be found against individual holidays.
