2014 Wanderlust Guide of the Year Awards

We were delighted to hear that Efrain Valles has made the shortlist for the 2014 Wanderlust Guide of the Year Awards. Efrain works for our partners in Peru - and so if you have travelled with us in Peru, then you may have met him. If you had Efrain as your leader then Wanderlust would like to hear from you! Send your lovely comments to topguide@wanderlust.co.uk. The deadline is the 23rd May.

"You cannot help but love ‘Effie’. Since graduating from Cusco’s Tupac Amaru University, he has spent the last 12 years leading treks across Peru, projecting his infectious energy and enthusiasm onto every group he takes on, as well as sharing his boundless knowledge of the country’s history, culture and nature. Amid guiding, looking after his family and charity marathon training – he did London 2012 dressed as a chaski (Incan messenger) – Effie also volunteers with the charity Chicuchas Wasi, helping girls in extreme poverty. You described him as a 'great ambassador for Peru who wants nothing for himself' and someone who communicates through 'humour, smiles and hugs'."

Our final winner for 2022 is Chris Holland with this superb photo of Ama Dablam in the Everest region of Nepal. Not only has Chris captured the beauty of this magnificent mountain but the stupa in the foreground (with its slightly cheeky expression) adds real interest and character as well as a sense of symmetry and scale between the man made and natural worlds. Many congratulations to Chris who wins our last Water-to-Go bottle of the year.
