A good value holiday and a great way to see Bhutan
This is a great way to see Bhutan while getting away at times from festival-time tourist crowds on some walks in the nature. The sights visited were well selected and all fascinating in different ways. The guide (Tshering) and driver (Tshewang) were absolutely superb, as was the vehicle. With one exception (Bumthang/Jakar) the accommodation was great. The food was very good, including for vegetarians. I thought this was good value, compared with other tours of Bhutan I considered. Please note that 'gentle walking' means by Himalayan high altitude trekking standards and it's definitely not equivalent to walks in the English countryside!
An exceptional experience
This was an exceptional experience which far exceeded expectations. The organisation from Mountain Kingdoms was great and we were extremely well looked after by Rojit in Kathmandu and by our trek guide Namgel and the porters, Bijaya, Dipak, Tanka and Jit. The trek is strenuous although we reached most destinations in time for a late lunch giving a welcome rest in the afternoon. The mountains are magnificent and each day was full of interest. Dwarika’s Hotel in Kathmandu was a wonderful, comfortable hotel. We added an extension to Poon Hill wihch we would highly recommend.
An amazing country
Bhutan is an amazing country and this trip allows one to see many parts of it and learn about the history, culture and people. At times the walking can be more than ‘gentle’. The accommodations had some disappointments but were generally just fine.
A priviledge to have been to Antarctica
The cruise exceeded all expectations. Impressive organisation on shore and on board MS Expedition. Excellent experts who filled the days on Drake passage with lectures of a very high standard. Superb food. Comfortable cabin. Journeys there and back also fine - all on time and we did enjoy and appreciate travelling business between LHR and EZE, on board and in the lounges. Words cannot describe Antarctica - feel very privileged to have been there and seen it.
Weaving delight
It was an amazing trip, and will take me time to consolidate it all in my memory. For me, the main highlight was seeing the women in Khoma and Radi doing their unbelievably intricate Kushithara weaving, and meeting the prize winners. And being so lucky to have Tsering as our guide, there wasn't a single question that he didn't know the answer to.
A spectacular expedition
This was a spectacular expedition. Antarctica is a breathtaking landscape and the proximity of the wildlife is amazing. It is easy to run out of superlatives and awesome is certainly appropriate for this trip. We saw penguins aplenty and they are comical and joyous when porpoising through the water in large groups, just for fun. We saw all the seals usually just lazing but we also saw nature in the raw. And then the whales- truly magical when they come by very closely. All the arrangements worked very smoothly- superb leaders and the organisation for using the zodiacs and landings so well handled. And the Drake Passage for us was relatively calm! A totally memorable trip.
A truly magical trip
A huge ‘thank you’ for an absolutely fantastic trip to Bhutan. It really did exceed my expectations and in so many ways! It's taken time to even start to process all the varied elements of what we saw and experienced. I'm finding that trying to explain the actual feeling of being in Bhutan to others is almost impossible, it felt so unique...A truly magical trip!
Blissfully happy in Bhutan
It was fantastic and I am still processing all that we did and experienced. Bhutan is a wonderful country and lovely lovely people...It’s so hard to pick out anything in isolation- myriads of magical moments in truth and so many times I knew were so special even as I lived them.I count myself very blessed to have been there and done that - I know I was at times just blissfully happy.
An intrepid Antarctic cruise
This trip was every bit as good as I hoped. The MS Expedition ship is ideal for this kind of exploration and the staff and crew worked hard to deliver on all fronts. We sailed further south than the circle which felt most intrepid since very few ordinary people get to go there. The scenery was awesome with many "wow" moments.
Highly recommended Antarctic cruise
A journey into the unknown, first time on an expedition boat and first time to a polar region. The trip met and exceeded all expectations I would recommend it to all who have an interest in the Antarctic.
A very enjoyable holiday in Sri Lanka
We really enjoyed the fact that we visited the north which wasn't full with tourists. The drive up the coastline was spectacular. The boat trip on the first day was very enjoyable and gave us an introduction to the amount of birds we would be seeing. The hotels were all of a high standard. The food was amazing. The people lovely.
A wonderful first trip to India
This was our first trip to India and it certainly lived up to all our expectations. The palaces and forts were incredible, and it was wonderful to stay in some fabulous former palaces and castles alongside a memorable home stay. Kishnan, our guide through the majority of the trip was first rate with an in-depth knowledge of the culture and history, and an enthusiasm to share it. We have certainly brought home some wonderful memories of Rajasthan, the Taj Mahal and the Golden Temple.
Unspoiled valleys
I have very many friends in Bhutan and I have spent countless hours in their fascinating company. I feel honoured whenever I stay in one of their houses, and have enjoyed some amazing evenings in homestays. This holiday gives others to enjoy the same experience whilst also exploring some of Bhutan's most beautiful and unspoiled valleys.
A treasure for the trekkers!
This hidden part of Nepal is still a treasure for the trekker and remains unspoilt - but visit soon before the new road projects alter the remote peace and isolation of this ancient kingdom. Unforgettable scenery and strong Tibetan influence surviving in the harsh climate add to its uniqueness and our Nepalese trekking crew described it as like being on the moon!
A fabulous adventure.
This is a fabulous adventure. It is a long trek visiting remote Upper Dolpo and Mustang. It crosses five 5,000 m passes so a real sense of achievement on completing it...The Sherpa and crew were professional and food excellent. The itinerary gives plenty of time to acclimatise with a rest day by the side of the beautiful Lake Phoksundo.
Exceptionally memorable.
I loved the remoteness of this trip; it felt like a true wilderness experience, and following in a snow leopard's snowy footsteps up to the Ghami La pass was exceptionally memorable.
Excellent.
I was surprised by the high standard of most of the hotels. The office staff were very helpful especially with my phone calls and All the pre-trip info was excellent and very helpful.
Overall a good holiday (Private Itinerary)
Overall a good holiday but be prepared for a lot of walking around temples either barefoot or with socks. Not just the temple but from the entrance, sometimes quite a distance. Good guide and driver. Hotels generally very good apart from one. A few early morning starts. Very friendly people.
A Perfect Blend of Culture and Trails
It was a walk through history lead by a knowledgeable enthusiastic guide. The homely accommodations got you close to getting to know Japanese cuisine and culture. The walking was challenging enough amidst a peaceful natural environment. The transport links worked well both on the trek and links to airports. Group members were from different countries which made for interesting conversations and understanding.
Our wildlife experiences were exceptional! (Private Itinerary)
This holiday will live long in the memory. Our wildlife experiences were exceptional, especially the gorilla trek which was an absolutely magical day. Our guide, Raymond, was a delight to spend time with, not only was his wildlife knowledge excellent, but he gave us a real insight into Ugandan life. All our lodges were great - well located with good, friendly service and the logistics couldn't have been any smoother from arrival to departure. We would recommend Uganda to anyone if you want an African wildlife experience that is very different and immensely rewarding.
