Our grading system explained
Joanna Lumley in India

Joanna Lumley makes a welcome return to our TV screens this week, taking us with her on an immersive, moving and thoroughly entertaining journey across the length and breadth of India. In a country that holds deep, personal connections, she explores its diverse landscapes, discovers its fascinating cultural traditions, learns about its modern day challenges and meets an extraordinarily eclectic mix of people.
In the first episode of three, Joanna travels from Madurai in the south to the Himalayan foothills in the north via the Western Ghats, Hyderabad and Calcutta. She sees Indian elephants in the wild, is made into a big screen goddess and reveals the desperate plight of Calcutta’s street people. Finally, she travels to scenic Sikkim for an emotional visit to her mother’s childhood home.
