Half marathon triumph
Three Mountain Kingdoms trekkers swapped their mountain boots for running shoes to compete in the British Trail Running championships in the Forest of Dean half marathon on Sunday 24 March. MK Operations Manager Niki Morgan won a silver medal in her Female Veteran 55 category, completing the testing course in 1 hour 34 minutes and 39 seconds....
Gillian Marshall also won silver in the Female Vet 60 category in a time of 1 hour 52 minutes and 59 seconds, with Steve Owen picking up bronze in Male Vet 70 category in a time of 1 hour 48 minutes and 39 seconds. Himalaya trekking certainly helped the successful trio with the hills, uneven terrain and the duration.
This was Niki’s second half marathon in two weeks as she completed the Bath Half marathon on Sunday 17 March in a time of 1 hour 29 minutes and 38 seconds, coming third in her age category out of 160. Her time was well inside the qualifying time to represent Wales in the masters international race against England at Manchester Half marathon on 26 May, so she will be looking forward to putting on the Welsh vest for the third year running.
