Gentle Walking Nepal (formerly Mid Hills & Village Heartlands)
We like the mix of sightseeing and walking and also the small groups.
Exceeded our expectations
This trip exceeded all expectations. All the plans, the methods of various travel, worked like clockwork. Our guide Nyi Nyi worked tirelessly to make the smallest detail perfect - especially my birthday! He was more than excellent. He never stopped smiling or working tirelessly for us all.
Cultural Highlights of Bhutan and Tibet
We found Bhutan and Tibet interesting and worthwhile with lots of good walking and sightseeing. Our extension to Chitwan was extremely memorable due to the staff, guides and accommodation, the whole of the planned programmes ran to time. We met interesting people in the villages. The guides in Bhutan and Tibet were first class.
Fantastic support from the Nepalese
I wanted to return to Nepal with Mountain Kingdoms because of the level of care & organisation both in the UK & Nepal. Again we were entrusted to a team who had expertise, organisation and shower sheer hard work and persistence. I knew this trek was going to be very challenging - altitude, distance etc. but we had a lot of great Nepali support staff from beginning to end. We could not have succeeded without them! I am very grateful to all of them for helping us to succeed - it enabled us to see Nepal life and surroundings in an amazing way. I will never forget the breathtaking scenery, the culture and the way of life for many Nepalese.
Well-organised trip to Sri Lanka
A well-organised trip to a country rich in scenery, culture, and history. Good food, warm and welcoming people, and a relaxed approach to life.
Stunning cruise on the Irrawaddy River
This is the second fantastic trip we have had with your company, both organised by Jim who has been helpful, reassuring and always friendly. What we enjoyed was being on such a beautiful river, the attention and friendliness of the boat crew, the variety of activities - village visits, elephant camp, teak bridge, and the beach. Hotels were of an excellent standard. Cannot fault any aspect of this holiday or the previous Indian trip.
Gentle Walking Sri Lanka
What we enjoyed about travelling with Mountain Kingdoms was being able to get feet on the ground and walking, thus seeing more of the real (non-touristy) countryside and meeting the people in their natural environment.
Everest Base Camp in Style
All very well organised. A lot of thought and expertise had obviously gone into the planning of the trek.
Enlightening trip to Bhutan
A most enlightening trip to a mountain kingdom which will remain in my memories as an extremely spiritual and peaceful experience. A great team gave us some very special insight into the harmony of life in Bhutan. The Black-Necked Crane Festival was most interesting.
Well-organised trip
A well-organised trip with excellent attention to our health/welfare (e.g. diet and acclimatisation). Everything worked! The guides/sherpas were clearly well equipped for emergencies (not needed fortunately).
Another wonderful trip by Mountain Kingdoms
Excellent organisation/backup from administrators/office staff. Small group. Varied itinerary. Good choice of hotels, excursions, etc. which showed that there had been a lot of research into the country/area/places of interest/history. It was certainly an adventure, and with a lot of variety. Thanks again, Mountain Kingdoms, for another amazing trip.
Three Peaks of the Balkans
Walking in this genuinely remote and undeveloped region of the Balkans was an experience more akin to trekking in wild Nepal than Europe. We trekked in splendid isolation meeting only the wonderfully hospitable local people, spending nights in tiny hamlets and villages where the outside world seemed to have had very little influence.
Lovely guide and delicious food
Our guide Veronica was a delight to be with, nothing was too much trouble for her. I just loved the picnic lunches - lots of local delicious delicacies. What I enjoyed was the small group size and going to place off the tourist trail.
Loved every minute
I loved every minute from start to finish, even the slightly bumpy crossing of the Drake Passage, but especially walking through the penguins. I would have stayed watching their hilarious antics for hours.
Amazing and varied
An amazing and varied itinerary. Each day is so different showcasing all the Arctic has to offer. A must for anyone interested in wildlife, Polar exploration, geology or just looking to experience an extraordinary environment.

Stunning on all levels
Out of all the many treks I have done in Nepal this is up there with the best. Fantastic variety of scenery, culture and wildlife. We met few other trekkers. The organisation was superb and the crew terrific. Lake Tilicho in the snow was a breathtaking sight - well worth a trip even if you do not continue over the pass. I can highly recommend this trip. Thanks to all.
The most splendid trip
This is just to say it was a most splendid trip, flawlessly planned and designed and a great delight. Everything worked perfectly and we enjoyed fine weather. The Aeolian Islands were exquisite: Vulcano, wreathed in sulphurous emanations; Salina, green and luxuriant, Lipar; rich in history and glistening with obsidian; Stromboli, rumbling with fire and brimstone and a great night-time ascent followed by Panarea, a most beautiful island of Alma-Tadema-like settings in sun and colour. Etna on the mainland was very impressive. We climbed to the summit at 10,000ft from the Refugio Sapienza which itself was an extremely well-appointed refuge. Catania and Siracusa were both interesting and photogenic. A very fine educational and interesting holiday!
Dolpo to Kingdom of Mustang Trek
This is a fabulous adventure. It is a long trek visiting remote Upper Dolpo and Mustang. It crosses five 5000 m passes so a real sense of achievement on completing it. We visited remote monasteries and the fabled city of Lo Manthang is fascinating. The Sherpa and crew were professional and food excellent. The itinerary gives plenty of time to acclimatise with a rest day by the side of the beautiful Lake Phoksundo. For me the highlight of the trip was the crossing of the Ghami La at 5700 m. We followed fresh Snow Leopard tracks and saw Wolves in this area. For a true mix of Wilderness and culture this was an outstanding trip and I would recommend it unreservedly.
Two Weeks in Bhutan
An excellent trip to a wonderful country. The first time we had used MK, but organisation, communication and information beforehand was first class. The trip involved a week's trek and a week touring, much of which also involved a good deal of walking. Our guide in Bhutan, Kencho, was excellent, and the quality and quantity of food on the trek was simply outstanding. There are one or two small points that could be attended to, not least the state of the first campsite on the trek at Shana, more closely it resembled a land-fill site. Also, it would have helped if our guide Kencho had spent more time at the rear of the trekking group to ensure any back markers were not left behind (me, twice). Lastly, on the unmade roads in much of the country, a 4x4 would have been a more comfortable option than the Toyota Hiace people carrier used. Apart from that wall to wall blue skies made for a truly memorable experience in magical Bhutan.
