I had waited a long time to find a tour that encompassed my love of textiles & heritage together with a desire to visit India. The opportunity to visit artisans homes and workshops, rural communities plus temples and other historic sites was the perfect combination. Gujarat was less touristy than perhaps other areas of India so a personal insight and the ability to share our passion for textiles with artisans and other travellers was fabulous. Our guides were amazing and the trip would have not been the same without them. I need not have worried about travelling alone either! The small group of 5 was ideal
Excellent scenery, well organised, daily distances just right, good food, good porter and guide.
This tour was wonderful and fascinating in every respect - full of extraordinary textiles and access to the different workshops which produced them so we could see the techniques and traditional equipment used and then have the chance to buy some of the finished items. We saw a variety of things from block carving, block printing, screen printing, resist dyeing, embroidery which is exactly what I had hoped for. The expertise, artistry and creativity was remarkable. In addition to the textiles we were taken to temples, palaces, a safari in the salt desert and even for a swim in the Arabian Gulf so it was a wonderfully varied trip and memorable in every way. Gujarat was such a delight and particularly as there were very few tourists so that it felt as though we were seeing 'the real India' and (as yet) unspoilt by droves of people and coaches - long may it last.
Everything. Well organized by all parties concerned. The ship was excellent, all the staff expedition, hotel and crew were exceptional. We were lucky with the weather and the ship went further south than ever before. If there was one word to describe this trip it would be Epic. Truly the trip of a lifetime.
Brilliant holiday from colours, expertise, hands on to items to buy with no obligation. Well organised , no wasted time, action packed and good camaraderie. Good mix of very varied activities. Loved the sights, sounds, atmosphere and friendliness of the people we met.
In February 2020 I fulfilled a long term ambition of travelling to the Sahara and I absolutely loved it. I was amazed by the variety of things we saw and how straightforward the trekking was. I would highly recommend this trip!!
We really appreciated the ability to tailor the holiday to our very exacting needs. It was great to be able to knit together two of the classic treks, Annapurna Basecamp and Langtang. The guide and company were also flexible during the trek enabling us to finish the Langtang trek a day early and then to have a full day in Kathmandu..
The trip was fantastic ; exceeded all expectations. An action packed trip which ,despite some long bus journeys was exciting and unexpected. The people were welcoming and embarrassingly grateful for us being there , thanking us all the time. There was some challenging walking through the forests but very rewarding by hearing and seeing wonderful wildlife. The guides were all very well informed and movingly spoke about their family's experiences during the horrific Khymer Rouge overthrow . A great mixture of jungle and wildlife plus historical temples .
Absolutely outstanding from beginning to end. We completely fell in love with Nepal, the scenery, the wildlife, and especially the exceptional kindness and hospitality of the Nepali people. The trek does require physical fitness as the stone steps are unrelenting on the 2,300 feet descents ('gentle' is relative, this is the Himalayas) but if your knees are up to it, don't hesitate. If the weather is clear the rewards are spectacular. We are a reasonably fit 61 and 73 and we managed it (just about!). We are already planning our next trip.
We saw an amazing array of animals, including gorillas, lions, chimpanzees, elephants, hippos, rhinos and some beautiful birds. Everything was very well organised, the accommodation was of a good standard along with the food. Our guides, Jurius and Hamid, were very knowledgeable and cared about our welfare. The only downside was the unpaved roads which after a few hours was rather uncomfortable. We had an incredible experience which I can totally recommend.
