Ancient Kingdoms of Tibet reviews

I enjoyed the road journeys and seeing the Tibetan landscapes. The dramatic drive returning from Gyantse over the passes was outstanding. The monasteries were interesting, and the guide was knowledgeable. Very pleased to see the Potala, and the visit the Norbulinka (day7), and the picnic in the park when we shared with family groups was delightful. The hotels were clean and good. Food was a bit variable, some delicious and some less so, but on tour that is to be expected. Our guide and driver were very good. The local agent Rincin was on hand when we were in Lhasa to help with any problems. I had a couple of days with altitude sickness, needing to rest, and received immediate help with oxygen and was able to continue after a couple of days. I felt well supported.
This was a rare opportunity to gain an in depth appreciation of the ancient West Tibetan kingdoms of Zhang Zhung and Guge. The Upper Sutlej basin and the Chang Tang are spectacular landscapes and the cave dwellings of the region offer a fascinating insight into the region's history. The guides were superb and the trip was very rewarding.
