Surpassed my expectations
The balance of trekking and culture on this holiday was just right. I expected great things of this holiday and it reached and even surpassed my expectations. The two trek guides were both informative and helpful.
Excellent guides
The guides and drivers on our trip were excellent - very friendly and approachable. We enjoyed the chance to learn more about Cambodia's troubled past as well as the friendliness and good humour of the Chi Phat villagers, our hosts, porters and cooks.
Another superb trip
I returned from MK's Cardamom Mountains trek yesterday and want to thank you and the teams here and in Cambodia for yet another superb trip. Our in-country guide was outstanding. His generosity of spirit, knowledge and language skills fostered absolute confidence in him. He was attentive, patient, meticulously organised and had a wonderful sense of humour.
Chi Phat stay was a highlight
Our stay in Chi Phat was phenomenal. It was an absolute privilege to stay with a lovely young family who, despite speaking no English, were able to communicate so effectively their obvious delight in hosting us. We were made so comfortable and welcome and felt very sad to leave them.
Another wonderful trek
We would like to take this opportunity to thank MK for such a wonderful Trek. This was our 3rd MK holiday and we have been absolutely delighted and inspired by each of them.
Delightful holiday
We much enjoyed our holiday in Cambodia and were delighted to meet so many happy, friendly people along the way. The temples were astounding, the Killing Fields were chilling, the country side was lovely and filled with so many interesting sights and photographic opportunities - overall Cambodia was a delight to visit, and our guides were wonderful.
Reputable - Cambodia trek
Small groups of like-minded people. Excellent rapport with office staff in UK, feels personal. Very good balance between adventure and culture. Good variety in activities and accommodation. Concern for the environment, respect for the country. I don't feel like a tourist, more like a visitor.
Well-planned and varied
The route was well planned and varied with at least one guaranteed 'wow factor' every day and the comparative lack of tourists we encountered fully justified the title of the tour. The small group size enabled us to have more interaction with the local people than one would normally expect on a package tour and was one of the main contributing factors to our enjoyment and appreciation of the country. I felt that the itinerary had been very carefully planned to maximise our short time there and that we were visiting parts of the country and having experience denied to the majority of run-of-the-mill tours arranged by larger companies.
Well organised
Very good standard of hotels and food. I enjoyed the quality of flexibility and organisation. Experiences provided very well organised. All staff were very helpful.
Incredible mountain views
To be among the first visitors to a region like this is such a rare privilege! The tribes-people are shy but friendly and their agricultural way of life little changed for centuries. The landscapes are beautiful, the forest and jungle full of interest, and the Burmese 'Ice Mountains' are a stunning backdrop, especially at sunrise and sunset. We have part-funded two major suspension bridges to enable people to get right up the valleys to have a go at the mountain of Phongun Razi. I would recommend this to anyone with a sense of adventure!
Everyone was so friendly
All three guides were excellent; very keen to please and gave us lots of informationÉ The hotels were of a very high standard and the service provided was excellentÉ We loved seeing the markets and people up close and the stupas and Buddhas were magnificent. People were so friendly and helpful, especially hotel staff.
Supportive crew
This was an opportunity to visit a remote area guided by locals who were happy to share their pride in their customs and way of life, which would not have been possible without their local knowledge. The porters were a cohesive group who improved everyone's spirits, especially with their singing. The food was excellent even in the most difficult conditions and something we all looked forward to.
Off-the-beaten-track
This holiday takes you off-the-beaten-track to a summit in the Burmese Himalaya, as well as visiting the main sights in Mandalay and Yangon. I did the recce in 2012 and loved it!
Good attention to detail
What I particularly liked about travelling with Mountain Kingdoms was the personal attention and that there was a good mix of trekking and cultural sightseeing.
very well organised
The entire trip was fantastic. Very well organised with excellent guides - for both the trek and city travel. So helpful being met at the airports and being assisted with the luggage.
Friendly guides
The holiday was excellent and the guide, cook and porters on the trek went out of their way to make sure our every need was catered for. The care, attention and food were excellent and they should know how much their hard work was appreciated. We were well looked after at each and every point. The guides were knowledgeable and extremely friendly.
You get to see real Burma
What I enjoyed was the opportunity to walk in rural areas and see "real life", the fact that you use local guides and services, and that meals are included which reduces the stress of finding somewhere to eat.
Exceptional guide
Nyi Nyi was an exceptional guide. His ability to communicate and engage with everyone we met along the way made the holiday very special. Very much enjoyed the walking aspect of the holiday. It was good to exercise as well as see the wonderful sights. Walking and meeting village people gave us a better insight into Myanmar and its people.
Amazing pagodas
The Bagan, Mandalay, Inle Lake itinerary couldn't fail to impress with the history, culture, scenery & amazing pagodas. Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic & seemed to know everyone in Burma, so he would stop & chat & introduce us to all sorts of people along the way. He gave us an insight into the everyday life of the villagers that most tourists don't get the chance to experience.
Chin Hills and Kalaw trek
Really good holiday, packed a lot into the time. Both treks were lovely and Nyi Nyi is an excellent guide.
