Cultural Tour
First Class Tour of Nepal

Duration: 14 Days

Combine your itinerary with your preferred hotels or other accommodation. Take a look at the Accommodation section for ideas and inspiration.

Day 1 Fly overnight to Kathmandu where you will stay at Dwarika's divine heritage hotel.
Day 2 Stretch your legs after the long flight with a walking tour of the central sights of Kathmandu, including the Monkey Temple, Swayambhunath, and the many palaces and temples of Durbar Square.
Days 3 - 4 In the morning you fly to Nepal's second 'city', Pokhara. Your base here for two nights is the award-winning Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge. The lodge is set on a high ridge above the town and provides a haven of peace and calm. A number of activities are available from the lodge including gentle village walks, birdwatching with their resident ornithologist, or making the short journey into Pokhara to take a boat ride across beautiful Phewa Tal Lake. Alternatively, you can just relax and chill beside the pool whilst enjoying the spectacular views of the Annapurna mountains.
Day 5 The ridgetop town of Bandipur is your destination today. A living museum of Newari culture, its buildings have been carefully preserved and restored and its winding streets are traffic free. It's a delightful place to explore on foot, and there are several short hikes you can take from the town to visit villages, temples and caves. An hour's easy walking will take you to the viewpoint at Gadhi which is topped by the ruins of an ancient fort. The sweeping views, encompassing the Annapurna and Manaslu massifs, are simply sublime. You spend the night at the Gaun Ghar Hotel, a beautifully restored merchant's house with breathtaking views from its sun terrace.
Days 6 - 8 Leaving the cool mountain air behind, you travel south today to the steamy plains of the central terai, home to Chitwan National Park. World Heritage listed, Chitwan is Nepal's oldest national park and its premier wildlife attraction. Rhinos, monkeys and elephants are almost guaranteed sightings, and if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of leopards, sloth bears or even the majestic Bengal tiger. Staying at the uber-comfy Into the Wild Eco Reosrt, you have two full days of wildlife viewing activities - exploring on foot, by jeep and by canoe, accompanied by expert guides.
Days 9 - 10 You say farewell to Chitwan before flying to Kathmandu and transferring to Bhaktapur, the best-preserved medieval city in the Kathmandu Valley. Here you can walk the ancient cobblestone streets between grand squares and courtyards where you find towering temples and red-brick houses, and numerous statues and shrines. Weavers, woodcarvers and potters demonstrate their traditional skills whilst daily life goes on uninterrupted and seemingly unchanged. After a tour of the town, you make the short journey to nearby Dhulikhel and Dwarika's Shangri La Resort - a tranquil oasis with panoramic views of the Himalaya.
Day 11 We suggest an early start today so that you can watch the sun rise over the mountains. From the ridge top you can see a full panorama from Everest in the east to the Annapurnas to the west, and watch their snow capped summits being touched by the first flush of pink - a truly magical sight. After breakfast you might like to walk down to explore the small town of Dhulikhel or walk to a nearby village. Later you return again to Dwarika's hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 12 Today you might like to visit a couple of sights close to central Kathmandu. Your options include the magnificent Bodhanath Stupa with its gilded dome, the ancient Newari city of Patan, or the hindu temple and funeral ghats at Pashupatinath. Alternatively, you may just want to relax and enjoy the luxurious facilities at your hotel. You could celebrate your last night in Nepal in style by indulging in the multi-course feast at Dwarika's renowned Krishpanan restaurant.
Days 13 - 14 Time for a spot of last-minute souvenir shopping before catching your overnight flight back home.
