Photo of the Year - Mark's story
We asked Mark Green, the winner of the Photo of the Year competition, to share with us the story of how he captured the prize-winning shot of the Angel Falls in Venezuela.
"As far as I remember this is how the story unfolded: Our group had made a very early pre-dawn start for the 3-4 hour motorised canoe journey up the Carao river from Canaima. The river forked after we had been going for a few hours and we continued up the narrower and faster Churun river until navigating a series of rapids and tight bends and suddenly catching our first partially obscured view over the lush forest of the magnificent Angel Falls towering above us and in full thundering flow....

Winner of the Photo of the Year Competition 2013
We had hundreds of entries for our 2013 Photo of the Year competition. The standard was high and we have enjoyed looking through them all. Our favourites were featured in our 2014-15 brochure, but we needed help to select the winner of the competition. A guide to trekking in the Himalaya
Cicerone has recently published a new guide – 'Trekking in the Himalaya'. The inspirational guide book describes twenty of the best treks in Nepal, Bhutan, India, Tibet and Pakistan. Eight authors, each an expert on trekking in the Himalaya, have shared vivid accounts of their treks, as well as stunning photos. One of the authors is our Managing Director, Steve Berry. In this book, Steve writes about three of his most exciting adventures: Wild Zanskar Trek and the Nanda Devi Approach, both in India and Gangkar Punsum Approach in Bhutan.

Elephant competition - entries now in
We've had about 200 entries in for our elephant colouring and naming competition. We've decorated our office windows with as many as we can, and have lots of people stopping to take a look at all the wonderful talent our local school children have. They really have been creative; it is going to be difficult to decide on a winner. Meanwhile, our wooden elephant carving is still on board the ship sailing to the UK….
