Everest Base Camp Trek

Watch our video of the classic trek to Everest Base Camp to get an insight into trekking the most famous trail in the world and find out what makes the Mountain Kingdoms experience so special.

After a tour of the key sights of Kathmandu, where ancient and modern form an intoxicating blend, the trek begins with the flight to Lukla and one of the most thrilling landings in the world. At Lukla you will meet your Sherpa guide and porters and begin the 14 day trek to the foot of Mount Everest and back to Lukla.

The carefully planned route, rest days and the care of your guide will ensure excellent acclimatisation. Hearty food, copious cups of chai and staying in the best available tea houses will also give you the every chance of reaching Base Camp.

You will follow well-trodden paths slowly ascending from the fertile valleys and milky waters of the Dudh Khosi river to ever increasing dramatic high mountain scenery - you will quickly run out of superlatives to describe the stunning landscapes that surround you from day one. You will also enjoy the company of the friendly Sherpa people in the tea houses and villages you pass through as well as your accommodating trek crew.

The high point of your trek comes when you climb the small peak of Kala Pattar. From this panoramic viewing point you can celebrate your achievement in reaching 5,545 metres whilst absorbing the breathtaking views across to Everest and many other Himalayan giants. You can also trek to Everest Base Camp where expeditions base themselves before their summit attempts. Standing at this iconic spot is an unforgettable experience and makes all the hard work worthwhile.

See our Everest Base Camp Trek information for further details, departure dates and prices. If you would prefer to do this trek whilst staying in more luxurious lodges then take a look at our Everest Base Camp in Style holiday.

Please note that the hotels and tea houses shown in this video may vary from the ones from those used on any given departure.
