A really brilliant holiday, made very special by the exceptional Sirdar
Mr & Mrs E

A magnificent experience - again. This was my third time on Kala Pattar and the second to Gokyo Ri. This is a wonderful trek that I would recommend to anyone.

Support the local community and follow in the footsteps of the early Everest expeditions.

Support local communities, and follow in the footsteps of the early Everest expeditions on this longer variant of the classic trek to Everest Base Camp.

This Everest trekking holiday offers more gradual acclimatisation than the standard option of flying into Lukla. The trail crosses the grain of the country and we trek over many prayer-flagged passes before we turn up the Dudh Kosi Valley. It is truly beautiful walking, but the electric sights of the world’s biggest peaks still await us as we make more gradual height gain on the way to Everest Base Camp. Just when you think it can’t get any better, we cross the Cho La, (5,420m/17,782ft), and make our way to Gokyo from where there are awesome views of the world’s sixth highest peak, Cho Oyu (8,153m/26,748ft).

The Sir Edmund Hillary Trust has built health clinics and schools across the Khumbu region, and we have, with the generous help of our clients, been active in raising money for the Trust for many years now. This Everest Base Camp trek will visit Khunde hospital and Sir Edmund Hillary School at Khumjung, both built by the Trust. Mountain Kingdoms will make a £50 contribution to the Trust for every booking received on this trek and we hope perhaps that clients will be encouraged to match this donation.
